Mission

To help survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo heal, obtain justice, reintegrate economically, and reclaim dignified lives through a holistic model of care.

About Panzi Foundation

Panzi Foundation is the U.S.-registered nonprofit supporting Panzi Hospital and the Foundation’s work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The U.S. office is a registered 501(c)(3) (EIN 27-1706063) that raises funds and issues tax receipts to support Panzi’s medical, psychosocial, legal, and socioeconomic programs.

Panzi operates a holistic ‘One Stop Center’ model—combining clinical treatment, psychosocial care, legal support, and economic reintegration—and extends services through mobile clinics, research/training (ICART), and community outreach across South Kivu and other parts of the DRC.

Notable achievements

Bioethanol production unit inaugurated (2024)

Launch of a local bioethanol production facility in 2024 to supply medical-grade alcohol and disinfectants while creating agricultural and economic opportunities for hundreds of vulnerable women.

Women’s cash support programs (2024)

Targeted cash grants and mutual-support group initiatives in 2024 (e.g., cash support to cohorts of survivors) to finance income-generating activities and accelerate socio-economic reintegration.

Mobile clinics reach thousands (reported 2022)

Panzi’s Holistic Mobile Clinics extended services to remote zones, reporting multi-thousand beneficiary reach (over 5,000 beneficiaries reported in recent operational data) to provide medical, psychosocial and legal care.
