The Friends of Cedarmere, Inc. assists in the development, preservation, restoration and maintenance of the buildings, grounds and gardens of Cedarmere, and works to increase public awareness and appreciation of the historic literary and cultural legacy of William Cullen Bryant.

About Friends of Cedarmere, Inc.

Friends of Cedarmere, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Roslyn Harbor, New York, dedicated to preserving and interpreting Cedarmere, the historic 7-acre estate of 19th-century poet and civic leader William Cullen Bryant. The organization supports restoration and maintenance of the house, mill, gardens and grounds, and works with Nassau County and local partners to keep the site accessible for programming and public enjoyment.

In the last two to three years the Friends have focused on garden and grounds restoration, infrastructure repairs, cultural programming and environmental improvements on the Cedarmere property. Participated in a regional environmental planting project that installed bioretention (raingarden) infrastructure at Cedarmere—improving stormwater management, water quality, and on-site habitat with an installed footprint of roughly 1,600 square feet.
