About Shannon Gaels Gaelic Football Club

Shannon Gaels Gaelic Football Club (founded 2002) is a community-based GAA club serving Queens, New York, with juvenile teams across U6–U21 age groups and active adult teams. The club focuses on Gaelic football, hurling and camogie, running seasonal leagues, camps and community events to introduce local children and newcomers to the sports. Shannon Gaels operates dedicated playing facilities in College Point (built and maintained in partnership with NYC) and runs regular programming (spring/fall leagues, Cúl Camp, beginner sessions and family field days). The club has an established nonprofit status and files annual Form 990s, and it actively secures grants and community funding to support youth programming and facility development.

Notable achievements

Built and opened dedicated GAA playing fields in Queens

Led fundraising and construction of the club’s GAA fields in College Point, with the first field opening in 2019 and a second, regulation adult field (with scoreboard and stands) opening in 2021.

Comprehensive underage program

Expanded to become the primary underage GAA club serving Queens with teams at U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U21 for both boys and girls, plus seasonal camps and beginner programs.

Competitive growth and adult teams

Since 2017 the club established adult squads (Junior B, Intermediate men’s, junior ladies and novice hurling) and has produced players selected to New York representative panels and recent championship-winning teams.
