About FREE THE GIRLS
Free The Girls is a registered 501(c)(3) counter‑trafficking organization that partners with local aftercare providers to offer survivor-led economic empowerment, case management, education support, and health services across multiple countries.
Originally known for collecting and distributing donated bras to create micro-enterprise opportunities, FTG has in recent years transitioned beyond bra collection toward a broader, holistic reintegration model that emphasizes business training, financial coaching, legal and health supports, and scholarships for participants’ children.
In 2023–2025 FTG focused on sustaining existing bra inventory while expanding direct funding, program grants, and partner-led services; leadership transitions and new funds (including a memorial education fund and recurring-donor initiatives) have supported program growth and localization.
Notable achievements
Micro‑enterprises launched
Established 102 survivor-owned small businesses across FTG partner countries, enabling participants to earn stable income and expand economic independence.
Scale of material distribution
Distributed more than one million pieces of inventory over the organization’s history and maintained a multi-year inventory reserve while shifting toward direct financial support and local partner distribution.
Measured participant outcomes
High program outcomes reported by FTG and partners in recent years: a very high percentage of graduates have saved for land/housing, nearly all participants’ children attend school, and the majority of graduates remain free from cycles of exploitation.
