About USA CLAY TARGET LEAGUE

USA Clay Target League (USACTL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota, and is the nation’s largest independent provider of clay target shooting sports for secondary and postsecondary schools. The League organizes school‑sanctioned teams, state leagues, and a national championship structure for high school, college, and homeschool athletes while emphasizing safety, sportsmanship, and inclusive participation. In the last few years the organization has continued rapid growth and program expansion — reporting tens of thousands of student athletes, launching expanded college and homeschool programs, and rolling out initiatives to reduce barriers for new teams. The League also works with local ranges, volunteer coaches, and conservation partners to support long‑term participation and outdoor recreation pathways for young people.

Notable achievements

Large national participation growth

USACTL grew into a multi‑state program with tens of thousands of registered student athletes (50,000+ range reported across recent seasons) and thousands of school and homeschool teams, making it the largest youth clay‑target program in the U.S.

Program expansion—college & homeschool leagues

The organization launched and expanded distinct tracks for college and homeschool students in recent years, added a national collegiate championship, and increased school‑level offerings to serve both secondary and postsecondary athletes.

Access initiative for new teams

In 2025 the League introduced a Free Team Initiative to reduce start‑up barriers for new school teams by providing free registration and safety equipment support for qualifying new teams.
