About A Fair Shake for Youth Inc

A Fair Shake for Youth is a New York City–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that delivers structured, hands-on social and emotional learning programs using registered therapy dog teams for middle-school-aged youth. The organization partners with public schools and community organizations in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn to run 10-week in-school cycles and shorter summer programs; each weekly session pairs an instructor with multiple therapy-dog teams working with small groups of students. In recent years A Fair Shake has rebuilt programming post-COVID, documented measurable outcomes using pre/post surveys (for example reporting high rates of student-reported gains in confidence and usable skills), and reported reaching 225 children through 19 programs in 2024 while continuing collaborations with local partners and funders.
