About GREATER GOOD INTERNATIONAL

Greater Good International (operating as Greater Good Haiti) is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) and Haitian NGO founded by educator Kelly Kobza following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The organization runs the Lekol Pi Gwo Byen remedial school program on La Gonâve and complementary community programs that combine accelerated primary remediation, secondary-school scholarships, nutrition, and skills classes.

In recent years GGI has expanded its on-the-ground programming (including an adult literacy program launched in 2022), piloted sustainable Earthship-style classroom construction, and supported graduates into secondary and post-secondary study and apprenticeships. The organization maintains an active donor-facing website with program updates and a publishable tax identification number (EIN 27-4788130).

Notable achievements

Student Graduations and Continuing Education

GGI reports having graduated over 115 students and supporting dozens of graduates in secondary school and scholarship programs; the organization reports nearly 100 students supported in secondary studies and several students in post‑secondary courses.

Earthship-style Classroom Project

Partnered on a pilot Earthship-style, earthquake- and hurricane-resistant classroom build and advanced construction phases into late 2023–2024, demonstrating progress on resilient, locally built learning spaces.

Adult Literacy & Community Programming

Launched an adult literacy program (initiated in 2022) and added complementary offerings such as music and swimming classes and a year‑round school feeding program to strengthen community impact and retention.
