About Partners in Food Solutions

Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that connects volunteer technical and business experts from major food companies with small and growing African food processors to improve food safety, product quality, manufacturing efficiency and market access. PFS partners with corporate members (including General Mills, Cargill, Bühler, The Hershey Company, Ardent Mills, DSM-Firmenich and The J.M. Smucker Company) and funders to deliver tailored consulting projects, capacity-building programs and investment-readiness support across multiple African countries. The organization has an active operating model, published annual and partner impact reports, and recent strategic initiatives (Ambition 2033) and research outputs addressing clean energy and integrated impact investment platforms.

Notable achievements

Awarded a five-year $7.6 million grant to expand support for high-potential horticulture and rice value chains in East and West Africa and to develop rice fortification capacity in Nigeria.

Partner and annual reports document long‑term outcomes: PFS-supported client companies collectively support over one million smallholder farmers (reported figures in partner/annual reports), have engaged thousands of volunteer hours, and helped unlock tens of millions in follow-on investment for client businesses.

Ambition 2033 strategy launch

Launched a multi-year strategic plan (Ambition 2033) to accelerate growth, scale services and integrate impact investment and clean-energy work into its capacity-building offerings (announced in 2026).
