ACAM develops, supports, and implements collaborative solutions that address homelessness, hunger, and financial instability by strengthening neighborhood-based nonprofits and faith-based assistance organizations across Greater Houston.
About ALLIANCE OF COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE MINISTRIES INC
Alliance of Community Assistance Ministries (ACAM) is a Houston-based network hub that strengthens the regional social safety net by resourcing, convening, and building capacity among neighborhood nonprofits and faith-based assistance ministries. ACAM operates as a grantmaker and backbone organization, coordinating shared programs—such as homelessness prevention, benefits access, housing stability screening, and youth employment pathways—while providing training, research, and outcome measurement for its network partners. In recent years ACAM has expanded collaborative initiatives across the region: it launched a Pathways to Citizenship Collaborative in 2024 to support naturalization outreach and navigation, administers HUD/TDHCA-funded homelessness prevention and housing stability services, and partners on opportunity-youth and workforce projects. Between 2020 and 2024 ACAM distributed multi-year grants and subawards totaling in the millions to frontline community organizations and continues to deploy capacity-building supports and coordinated funding to strengthen service delivery across Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties.
