About JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HOUSTON FOUNDATION

The Junior League of Houston Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) established to serve as the custodian of the Junior League of Houston’s Community Endowment and related funds. Founded as a separate entity in 2005 (the Community Endowment was created in 1999), the Foundation's purpose is to provide long-term financial support for the League’s community programs and the League building. The Foundation manages investment assets, maintains a formal spending policy, and is governed by a board that includes community, active League, and sustainer directors. Earnings from the endowment are made available to The Junior League of Houston to finance community projects, community assistance grants, and other League-designated initiatives; the Foundation also assumed stewardship of the Building Preservation Fund and building reserve assets in 2022.

Notable achievements

Community Endowment growth

The Foundation oversees a multi-million-dollar Community Endowment that exceeded its initial $10 million campaign goal and is reported to be valued in the high tens of millions, providing durable funding to support League community programs.

Regular grantmaking to community partners

Since the endowment began distributions (first gift in 2012–2013), the Foundation has supported League-directed community work and helped fund Community Assistance Grants; in 2023–2024 the League awarded $175,000 in Community Assistance Grants funded in part by endowed funds overseen by the Foundation.

Assumed Building Preservation stewardship

In 2022 the Foundation received and now manages the Building Preservation Fund and building reserve assets for the Junior League, formalizing long-term stewardship of the League’s physical assets and related investments.
