About COLON CANCER COALITION FOUNDATION

The Colon Cancer Coalition Foundation is a Minneapolis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on preventing colorectal cancer through community education, screening access, patient support, and research funding. The organization operates a nationwide network of volunteer-led events — including the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K run/walk series and the Tour de Tush bike rides — that raise money locally and direct funds back to community screening and support programs. The Coalition also administers competitive local grants to remove barriers to screening, partners with medical centers and survivor-support platforms, and provides resources for people diagnosed with colorectal cancer. In recent years the organization has emphasized reducing health disparities by funding programs that help uninsured, underinsured, and undocumented patients obtain screening and follow-up care.

Notable achievements

National event network (Get Your Rear in Gear / Tour de Tush)

Built a multi-city grassroots event series that engages communities across North America; the Coalition reports more than 20,000 participants from 40+ cities and directs event funds to local screening, education, patient support, and research.

Local screening & patient-support grant program

Operates a year-round grants program (reviewed biannually) that funds community clinics, patient assistance, and screening initiatives — including grants targeted to uninsured, underinsured, and undocumented patients to cover colonoscopies and related care.

Survivorship & peer-support partnerships

Expanded survivorship services by funding access to digital survivorship tools (including sponsored seats on The After Cancer app) and supporting peer-mentorship and resource programs for people after diagnosis and treatment.
