About LEARNING FORWARD

Learning Forward is a professional association dedicated to improving educator professional learning to boost student success. The organization develops and steward standards, provides professional services (consulting, institutes, and networks), publishes The Learning Professional journal, and organizes an annual conference for educators and instructional leaders. In recent years Learning Forward has continued large-scale convenings and client-facing services: its annual conference attracts multiple thousands of educators and its professional services team works directly with school systems to implement evidence-based professional learning and curriculum-aligned initiatives.

Standards for Professional Learning

Stewarded the development and periodic revision of the Standards for Professional Learning for more than three decades, providing a widely used research-based framework for designing and evaluating educator professional learning.

Large-scale Annual Conferences

Operates an annual conference that in recent years has drawn thousands of educators (2,600+ attendees reported for 2025; approximately 2,800 reported for 2024), offering hundreds of sessions, networking, and implementation-focused programming.

Learning Forward Academy & Services

Runs the Learning Forward Academy and yearlong leadership institutes and provides professional services and consulting to school systems; in FY24 its consulting team reported supporting multiple clients across states and regional associations (dozens of engagements and 150+ consultant days in the most recent fiscal period).
