About BEAR BE A RESOURCE FOR CPS KIDS
BEAR (formally operating as Partners for Harris County Children, Inc. d/b/a BEAR: Be A Resource for CPS Kids) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supplies emergency goods and targeted supportive services to children removed from unsafe homes and other at-risk children served by Harris County and Texas Child Protective Services. BEAR operates year-round distribution (“BEAR Rooms” and a central warehouse) and runs signature programs—BEAR Necessities (emergency items), BEAR Back to School, BEARing Gifts (holiday gifts), and the Heart Gallery of Greater Houston—to restore dignity and meet basic needs at moments of crisis while helping children become visible to adoptive families. In recent years BEAR has scaled operations and community partnerships to serve tens of thousands of children annually, working closely with Harris County Resources for Children & Adults and DFPS to make items available directly to caseworkers and to deliver large seasonal drives and volunteer-run distributions.
