About SHUANG WEN ACADEMY NETWORK

Shuang Wen Academy Network (SWAN) is a New York–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has operated Mandarin-English bilingual programs and enrichment since the late 1990s. SWAN runs after-school, Saturday, virtual, summer camp and preschool programs designed to build Mandarin proficiency and cultural literacy in young learners. The organization reports serving several hundred children annually and highlights decades of pedagogical experience, claiming thousands of alumni from its programs since its founding.

Notable achievements

Launched bilingual preschool program

Expanded its program offerings to include a Mandarin/English bilingual preschool (registration active for the 2024–2025 school year), extending SWAN’s established after-school model into early childhood full-day programming.

Long-term program reach

Grew from a 1998 after-school pilot of ~40 students into a network that reports serving more than 6,000 students over its history and more than 400 children in current annual programming.

Sustained program operations

Maintained multi-program delivery (after-school, Saturday Mandarin, virtual classes, and summer camp) and continued to operate as an active nonprofit organization through recent fiscal years, supporting core program services as its primary source of revenue.
