About TREASURE ISLAND SAILING CENTER FOUNDATION
Treasure Island Sailing Center Foundation (TISC) is a San Francisco-based 501(c)(3) community sailing organization that provides instruction, water‑access, scholarships, and experiential STEM education on San Francisco Bay. Its programs serve youth, adults, and people with disabilities and emphasize life skills, environmental stewardship, and teamwork in addition to sailing technique. In response to the ongoing Treasure Island redevelopment, TISC announced a planned pause in on‑island operations beginning in early 2025 while it transitions to a new permanent facility; the organization remains an active nonprofit with fundraising, planning, and partnerships continuing during the pause. TISC files annual IRS Form 990s and operates long‑standing community programs (notably the Set Sail Learn 4th‑grade STEM program) in partnership with local schools and civic partners.

Set Sail Learn scale
TISC’s Set Sail Learn STEM program has been a flagship initiative for San Francisco 4th graders, introducing roughly 1,300 students to Bay‑based STEM and sailing annually and, since program inception, serving thousands of public‑school students.
Inclusive / adaptive programming
The center established adaptive and 'co‑able' sailing opportunities through sustained partnerships with disability‑focused sailing groups, expanding access so people with a range of physical abilities can sail and learn on the Bay.
Longstanding nonprofit status and financial position
TISC has held tax‑exempt status since 1999 and, per its most recent filings, maintains multi‑million dollar net assets that support program continuity and capital planning for a new permanent facility.
