AIDSPAN
To improve the effectiveness, transparency and accountability of the Global Fund and other global health initiatives through independent observation, convening, and building the capacity of in-country stakeholders and accountability mechanisms.
About AIDSPAN
Aidspan is an independent non-profit organisation that acts as a dedicated watchdog of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and related global health initiatives. It produces the Global Fund Observer (GFO), policy analysis, practical guides and data tools that explain and critique Fund processes and decisions. Aidspan is legally registered as a U.S. tax-exempt organization (EIN 32-0060251) and operates programmatically from its offices and networks in Africa and globally; it has maintained an active publishing and convening program throughout 2023–2025. The organisation’s work is funded through government and foundation grants while it maintains independence by not accepting funding from the Global Fund itself. In recent years Aidspan has continued monthly publication of the Global Fund Observer, issued updated applicant and implementation guides, published a strategy for 2023–2028, and delivered capacity-building and analytic services intended to strengthen country-level accountability and grant performance.
