About STEM GREENHOUSE INC

STEM Greenhouse is a Grand Rapids-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded to expand access to hands-on STEM education for children from underserved and vulnerable communities. The organization operates after-school and summer programs (Kids Count STEM Club, STEM Scholars, Sankofa STEM Academy, SAGE, and STEM Scholars 2.0) that emphasize culturally responsive instruction, mentorship, and experiential learning. In recent years STEM Greenhouse has expanded program reach and organizational capacity through multi-year grants and community partnerships; it reports active fiscal activity through FY2025 and maintains a public web presence, media coverage, and membership in regional nonprofit networks. The organization is led by Founder & Executive Director Dr. Keli Christopher and focuses on building pathways to postsecondary education and STEM careers for students in West Michigan.

Expanded teacher-in-training model

Used philanthropic support (including a Woodson Center grant announced November 11, 2025) to scale a Teacher-in-Training program that provided hands-on teaching experience and leadership development to roughly 60 high-school participants, strengthening program delivery and staffing capacity.

Dedicated learning space in GRPS

Established a dedicated learning site inside a Grand Rapids Public Schools building—positioning STEM Greenhouse as a community-based partner delivering in-school and out-of-school STEM experiences to BIPOC and underserved students.
