About MHANY PENINSULA LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

MHANY Peninsula Local Development Corporation is a subordinate nonprofit within the MHANY (Mutual Housing Association of New York) network that advances deeply affordable housing and community-serving commercial/industrial space in New York City. The organization is the project sponsor/owner entity associated with The Peninsula redevelopment in Hunts Point (Bronx), where it develops and operates manufacturing, retail, and community facility space alongside affordable residential buildings. Since its formation the LDC has participated in project phases that delivered community-focused commercial space and hundreds of affordable housing units through partnerships with NYCEDC, HPD, private development partners, and local stakeholders.

Notable achievements

Delivered industrial/commercial space at The Peninsula

Participated in development and operation of approximately 57,000 square feet of light-industrial and commercial space in The Peninsula campus, providing affordable leases for local manufacturing, food, and small businesses (Phase One commercial space operational following 2022 completion).

Major project milestone — Peninsula Phase Two topping out (2025)

Partnered with MHANY Management and private developers on Phase Two of The Peninsula, which topped out in 2025 and will add 359 additional affordable apartments as part of the multi-phase campus expansion (projected full campus total: ~740 affordable homes when complete).

Sustainability & community programming

Advanced on-site sustainability and community initiatives tied to MHANY developments, including installation of anaerobic biodigesters at The Peninsula (and MHANY’s Chestnut Commons) to reduce organic waste and return compost/fertilizer to the local community.
