About BROCKUS PROJECT DANCE COMPANY

Brockus Project Dance Company (BPD) is a Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) dance organization founded in the mid-1990s that produces performances, artist residencies, showcases and community-facing education programs. The organization operates a home rehearsal/show space (BPStudios), presents the professional company BrockusRED, and produces festivals and showcases that amplify local choreographers and performers.

BPD places a strong emphasis on arts education and access: BrockusED (its education arm) runs after-school and in-school residencies and intensives in LAUSD and Long Beach USD, with programs designed for low-income and BIPOC youth using arts-integration and whole-child teaching methods. In recent years the organization has continued to deliver free/low-cost teen intensives, school residencies, and community showcases supported by state and local arts grants.

Over its history the organization has produced hundreds of showcases, supported hundreds of choreographers and thousands of dancers/audience members, and reports extensive outreach to at-risk youth. In the last 2–3 years BPD has been an active grantee of the California Arts Council and has maintained programming at BPStudios, including youth summer intensives and the SHIFT/west residency for emerging choreographers.
