About Sexual Violence Center
The Sexual Violence Center (SVC) is a Minneapolis-based 501(c)(3) rape crisis center founded in 1985 that provides free, confidential services to survivors and secondary survivors across Hennepin, Carver, and Scott counties. SVC operates a 24-hour crisis line, offers hospital-based medical advocacy, legal advocacy, individual and group counseling, and community outreach and training programs. In addition to direct services, SVC convenes professional development and community events (including the annual Building Bridges conference) and runs outreach and education initiatives aimed at prevention and improved system responses. In recent years SVC has engaged in organizational strategic planning (2024–2025 planning cycle) and continued program activity including public supply drives, training series, and regional conference programming. SVC is a donor-facing, operating nonprofit with an active web presence and community partnerships; it reports multi-year program activity (including serving over one thousand individuals in recent years) and receives funding from a mix of government, foundation, and individual sources to sustain its services.

SVC was founded in 1985 and has provided continuous, dedicated sexual assault advocacy and crisis services for the Minneapolis region for more than four decades.
24/7 crisis and hospital-based advocacy network
Maintains a 24-hour crisis hotline and provides hospital-based medical advocacy across a multi-hospital network (medical advocacy in multiple hospitals) to support survivors during forensic exams and post-assault medical care.
Regional convening and public education (Building Bridges)
Organizes the Building Bridges conference and regular public education/training (workshops, Ask an Advocate series, community supply drives) to strengthen cross-sector responses and professional capacity in the region.
