Founded in 2001, Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue (GRFR) is a 100% volunteer, foster‑home based 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on Golden Retrievers and retriever‑type mixes. The organization operates without a physical shelter and places rescued dogs only within the state of Colorado.
GRFR’s work centers on intake from shelters, breeder releases and owner surrenders, providing veterinary care and behavioral assessment in foster homes, then matching dogs to screened adopters with home visits and follow‑up.
