About ADVANCING THE INTERESTS OF ANIMALS

Advancing the Interests of Animals (AIA) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) animal-welfare organization founded in 2000 (originally as "Desert Paws"). The organization conducts public education, media programming and targeted project support to improve conditions for companion and community animals. AIA moved its base of operations to Tucson, Arizona in 2021 and maintains an active web and media presence.

AIA operates the nationally syndicated Animals Today Radio program and produces multimedia campaigns and outreach (including Spanish-language pet-care campaigns, humane-education efforts, and short-form videos). Historically it has funded local shelter improvements, supported low-income spay/neuter and vaccination services, and engaged in advocacy and litigation when necessary to address shelter deficiencies.

In recent years AIA continued broadcast and digital programming through the COVID period, reported meaningful investment and grant revenue growth on its publicly filed returns, and received major institutional support (including a six-figure grant in 2022) that materially increased its financial capacity to fund program and project work.

Major institutional grant

Secured a six-figure grant from a major community foundation in 2022, significantly increasing the organization's available assets and capacity for program support.
