About COLLIN COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY (operating as Legacy Humane Society)

Collin County Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue founded in 2008 that now operates publicly as Legacy Humane Society. The organization runs foster-based rescue and adoption programs across North Dallas/Collin County and operates the Rockwall Adoption Center under a city contract to manage intake, vetting and adoptions. In 2024–2025 LHS expanded its on-site services by opening Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic and increasing clinic hours to provide high-volume, low-cost medical care and spay/neuter services. The group works with volunteers, foster homes and municipal partners to place animals in permanent homes and to reduce shelter intake through community veterinary support. The organization is donor-facing, maintains an active website with donation and volunteer pathways, and reports ongoing program and facility development including adoption-facility planning, veterinary clinic operations, and collaborative work with other rescues and community funders.
