About SAINT MARYS FOUNDATION

Saint Marys Foundation is the philanthropic arm for Trinity Health Grand Rapids (Mercy Health Saint Mary’s), established in 1964 to raise private support for hospital programs, clinical services, community health initiatives and facility improvements. The foundation solicits and manages gifts, grants, and planned giving to fund local programs and capital needs for Trinity Health Grand Rapids and affiliated community health sites. In recent years the foundation has funded mobile screening services, clinical program expansions and community-focused grants that directly support patients and families in the Grand Rapids area. Saint Marys Foundation operates as an active 501(c)(3) public charity with multi‑million dollar annual revenues and grantmaking, and it routinely files IRS Form 990s and partners with Trinity Health Michigan on community health projects.

Notable achievements

Funded mobile mammography unit

Provided fundraising support for Trinity Health Grand Rapids’ mobile mammography unit launched in June 2023; the unit expanded access to breast cancer screening in neighborhood sites and reported over 2,000 screenings and multiple cancer diagnoses in its first year.

Multi‑million dollar grantmaking to local clinical programs
