About DALLAS URBAN DEBATE ALLIANCE

Dallas Urban Debate Alliance (DUDA) is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners closely with the Dallas Independent School District to run interscholastic debate programs for middle- and high-school students. The organization develops debate curricula, trains coaches, organizes tournaments and scrimmages, and operates district-wide initiatives that aim to expand access to rigorous academic debate for historically underrepresented students. In recent years DUDA has grown substantially and now serves a large network of students, coaches, and schools across Dallas; its programming includes traditional competitive debate, public-facing debate events, and the locally developed Community Action Debate format used to engage students with civic issues. Staff and leadership (including longtime Executive Director leadership) have presented DUDA programming and curriculum at state and national conferences and partnered with national Urban Debate League networks to enter students in national championships and public debate series. DUDA demonstrates measurable program scale and recent organizational growth: by early 2024–2025 the league was serving well over a thousand students across more than 100 Dallas ISD campuses, and its most recent annual filings show increased contributed support and expanded program capacity across the 2024–2025 fiscal cycle.
