CTUL partners with other organizations and leaders to build a movement to win racial, gender and economic justice by identifying root causes of injustice and shifting the balance of power.

Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (CTUL) is a Minneapolis-based, worker-led nonprofit that organizes low-wage and immigrant workers—particularly workers of color—around workplace rights, wage theft recovery, municipal labor standards, and sector-specific campaigns (retail cleaning, food service, construction). The organization runs campaigns, worker training, policy advocacy, and worker-driven enforcement partnerships to raise standards and increase worker power.

In the last several years CTUL has maintained active campaigns (including Building Dignity & Respect and campaigns addressing ICE presence), published annual reports, won media attention for local labor investigations, and entered formal co-enforcement partnerships with local government. CTUL’s recent activity includes expansion of its worker-driven social-responsibility monitoring programs with developer commitments and a multiyear co-enforcement contract with the City of Minneapolis to provide labor standards navigation and training services.

Recovered wages for workers

CTUL reports having helped workers recover substantial unpaid wages (more than $2.7 million reported as of spring 2021) and continued enforcement work and outreach to address wage theft in subsequent years.

Responsible contractor and industry wins

Through its retail cleaning and construction campaigns CTUL secured a Responsible Contractor policy with a major retailer and helped prompt commitments from other national retailers, and achieved industry-wide wage improvements (including reported multi‑ten‑percent increases for some cleaning workers).

City co-enforcement contract

CTUL expanded its municipal partnership work, receiving a multiyear contract to provide labor standards claims navigation and training (co‑enforcement) for the City of Minneapolis, demonstrating formal recognition by local government of CTUL’s enforcement and outreach capacity.
