COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT FUND OF CDS

Cooperative Development Fund of CDS (EIN 39-1540529) is the 501(c)(3) charitable subsidiary of Cooperative Development Services (CDS), headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota. The Fund serves as a fiscal sponsor and grant-making vehicle that channels philanthropic and public support to cooperative startups, co-op conversions, and community-based economic development projects. In fiscal year 2024 the Fund maintained a portfolio of active fiscal sponsorship agreements, distributed roughly $1.5 million in grants to support cooperative ventures, and began administering a $750,000 congressional appropriation (via a HUD grant) to support construction of a food co-op in Illinois. The Fund publishes public Form 990 filings and is included in CDS’s audited financial statements, enabling donor-facing activity and transparent stewardship of contributed funds. As the charitable arm of CDS, the Fund complements CDS’s technical assistance, education, and capitalization services and helps cooperatives access philanthropic resources and formal fiscal sponsorship arrangements regionally and nationally.
