About Camp Fire Minnesota

Camp Fire Minnesota is a nature-based youth development organization that operates year-round camps, school-break and summer programs, PreK–12 environmental education, and afterschool nature programs. Programs are designed to build confidence, leadership, STEM skills, and social-emotional learning through hands-on experiences tied to Minnesota state standards. The organization operates on a 103-acre property in Excelsior and works with Twin Cities schools and community partners to expand access to outdoor learning. In recent years Camp Fire Minnesota has published a 2024–26 strategic plan focused on inclusion and equity and marked its 100-year centennial in 2024 while continuing scholarship-supported programming to reach historically under-resourced youth.

100‑Year Centennial (2024)

Celebrated a centennial in 2024 with alumni events, program highlights, and new initiatives (including Trail Seekers and a Summer Camp Yearbook) that reinforced long-term community engagement and stewardship.

Program Scale & Access (2023)

Delivered nature-based programs to approximately 9,500 youth in 2023, with about 43% of participants receiving financial assistance to reduce access barriers.

Equity in Environmental Education

Documented equity outcomes in recent programming (2023): approximately 80% of Environmental Education participants identified as BIPOC, 72% were from schools with higher free/reduced‑price lunch rates, and roughly 85% of participants benefited from scholarship support.
