National Council on Family Relations
To ensure that researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers are positioned to promote the thriving of every family.
About National Council on Family Relations
The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), founded in 1938, is the oldest nonprofit, nonpartisan, multidisciplinary professional association focused solely on family research, practice, and education. NCFR advances the discipline of Family Science by publishing peer-reviewed journals, administering the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential, and convening an annual international conference for researchers and practitioners. NCFR serves a professional and public audience—scholars, educators, practitioners, students, and policymakers—by producing research, professional standards, training, policy briefs, and resources aimed at strengthening families. In recent years NCFR has continued regular annual conferences, expanded journal publishing activity, and advanced CFLE-related programs and approvals (including a 2024 approval affecting veteran education benefits processes).
