About Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, Inc.

The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free immigration legal representation to low-income immigrants and refugees across Minnesota and North Dakota, alongside community education and policy advocacy. ILCM handles a wide range of immigration matters — including asylum and refugee representation, family-based petitions, naturalization, DACA, Temporary Protected Status, and detention-line assistance — and operates an intake and detention help line to respond to urgent needs. Founded in 1976 (originally as Oficina Legal) and incorporated as an independent nonprofit in 1996, ILCM has grown into one of Minnesota’s principal providers of pro bono-backed immigration legal services, combining a small core of staff attorneys with an extensive pro bono attorney network. The organization emphasizes community outreach and Know Your Rights education to prevent legal problems and to support immigrant families navigating complex immigration systems.

Notable achievements

Thousands served annually

ILCM reported serving more than 3,500 clients (3,533 individuals noted in recent reporting) in its most recent full reporting year, demonstrating sustained casework volume and direct legal impact.

Large pro bono and outreach network
