About THE MINNESOTA OPERA
The Minnesota Opera is a professional, donor-facing 501(c)(3) opera company based in Minneapolis that produces mainstage seasons, commissions new works, and operates extensive education and artist-development programs. The company advances contemporary and traditional repertory, operates a nationally recognized Resident Artist Program, and runs statewide education initiatives that serve children, youth, seniors, and community partners.
In recent years MN Opera expanded its campus with the Luminary Arts Center (opened 2022), deepened its New Works Initiative (including workshops and commissions that have led to forthcoming world premieres), and sustained a broad suite of learning programs—Project Opera, school residencies, summer camps and early-childhood story-singing programs—reaching tens of thousands of learners and patrons annually. The organization reports multi‑million dollar annual operating budgets and maintains significant net assets, continuing to operate as an active performing arts institution in the Twin Cities.
