About MINNEAPOLIS AMERICAN INDIAN CENTER
The Minneapolis American Indian Center (MAIC) is a long-standing 501(c)(3) community hub serving the urban Native population of the Twin Cities. MAIC provides culturally based programs and services across education, health and wellness, employment training, arts and culture, family support, and elder services.
MAIC serves thousands of people annually through programs such as family services, the Boys & Girls Club of MAIC, Culture Language Arts Network (CLAN), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) workforce programming, Native Fitness and Nutrition, Two Rivers Gallery, and Gatherings Café. The center completed a historic renovation and expansion in spring 2024 and reopened to the public in May 2024, strengthening space for youth, elders, artists, and community events.

Historic renovation & reopening (2024)
Completed a multi-year building renovation and expansion that finished in spring 2024, doubling usable space and adding a central rotunda, expanded gallery and arts spaces, a new kitchen/dining area for Gatherings Café, a Best Buy Teen Tech Center for youth, upgraded fitness and gym facilities, and improved accessibility and energy systems.
All Roads Capital Campaign fundraising
Advanced a major capital campaign to renovate and expand the center, raising approximately $30 million toward a roughly $32.5 million goal from a mix of philanthropic, public, and corporate partners to preserve the facility and scale program capacity.
Program scale and expansion
Sustained broad program delivery reaching tens of thousands of people each year (approximately 25,000–28,000 participants reported), expanded youth technology and arts offerings, and continued workforce and family services across the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.
