About INDIAN HEALTH BOARD OF MINNEAPOLIS INC

The Indian Health Board of Minneapolis (IHB) is an urban Indian nonprofit community health center founded in 1971 that provides culturally grounded primary care, dental, behavioral health, recovery, pharmacy, pregnancy and children’s services, and traditional Indigenous healing. IHB combines Indigenous traditions with modern clinical care to serve American Indian and Alaska Native people living in Minneapolis while welcoming patients from all backgrounds. In recent years IHB has expanded clinical capacity and community programming and is developing the Menaandawiwe Wellness Campus, a new Indigenous-first wellness facility intended to centralize medical, dental, counseling, recovery, and traditional health services. The organization is FTCA-deemed as a community health center and maintains recognized accreditation and clinical quality designations to support accessible care.

Menaandawiwe Wellness Campus development

IHB advanced a multi-year capital project to build the Menaandawiwe Wellness Campus, holding community land-blessing and ceremonial events beginning in 2023 and moving into construction and formal groundbreaking activities in 2024–2025, with an anticipated phased opening of services in 2026 to expand integrated care capacity.

Increased service volume and public funding support

In recent reporting IHB delivered thousands of medical encounters (recent data show approximately 7,700+ medical service encounters) and secured multi-year public funding and grant support to expand services and the new campus.
