About GROVES ACADEMY

Groves Academy (doing business as Groves Learning Organization) is an independent, nonprofit school and educational ecosystem in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, that serves students in grades 1–12 who learn differently (including dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based learning and executive-functioning challenges). The organization combines an independent day school (Groves Academy) with a fee-for-service Learning Center and the Groves Literacy Partnership to extend evidence-based literacy instruction beyond the campus.

Founded in 1972, Groves positions its curriculum and coaching services on the science of reading and small-class, multisensory instruction. In recent years Groves has expanded its reach through the Groves Literacy Partnership (coaching partner schools and classroom teachers) while continuing to operate its academy for primary, middle, and upper school students.

Notable achievements

Serving 270+ students

Groves Academy educates students in grades 1–12 who experience learning differences and, in recent filings and reports, is described as serving more than 270 enrolled students on its St. Louis Park campus.

Groves Literacy Partnership (GLP)

The Groves Literacy Partnership provides school-based coaching and an evidence-based literacy curriculum to partner schools; recent program materials describe GLP coaching multiple partner schools and coaching dozens of classroom teachers to improve early-grade reading instruction.

50th anniversary & organizational expansion

Since its founding in 1972 Groves marked its 50th anniversary in 2022 and reorganized its activities into the Groves Learning Organization, expanding beyond the academy to offer the Learning Center and literacy partnership work to the broader education community.
