Special Olympics Minnesota’s mission is to create a new world of inclusion and acceptance for people with intellectual disabilities. We do this by providing year-round sports training and athletic competitions, inclusive healthcare programs, leadership and advocacy training, and inclusive school programs.

Special Olympics Minnesota delivers year-round sports training, athletic competition, health programming, leadership development, and inclusive school programs for people with intellectual disabilities across the state. In 2024 the organization reported hosting dozens of state competitions and delivering over 1,000,000 mission experiences, while growing its Unified Champion Schools program to hundreds of schools and serving thousands of athletes and students. As Minnesota’s official Special Olympics program it served as host and local organizer for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games (June 20–26, 2026), bringing a national multi-sport event and large volunteer mobilization to the Twin Cities.
