About BESTPREP

BESTPREP is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (founded 1976) that delivers business, career and financial-literacy programs for students in grades 4–12 and supports educators with classroom-ready resources. Programs include Classroom Plus, eMentors, Financial Matters, Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) and The Stock Market Game, delivered in-person, virtually and in hybrid formats. BESTPREP works with hundreds of Minnesota schools each year to connect students to volunteer professionals and workplace experiences designed to build workforce readiness and financial capability. The organization reports large annual reach (thousands of students and volunteers) and is actively reporting program outcomes and recaps from 2023–2025, including growth in Minnesota Business Venture participation and documented student learning gains.

Five decades of impact

Operating since 1976, BESTPREP reports having impacted more than 1.8 million youth over its history and marked its 50th year of service in 2026.

In recent reporting BESTPREP states annual reach on the order of tens of thousands of students statewide (reported figures include approximately 33,000 students reached, more than 500 educators engaged, and roughly 5,000 volunteers supporting programs in a recent year).

Minnesota Business Venture 2024 outcomes

The 2024 MBV program expanded participation (student participation grew ~30%), engaged nearly 100 schools, and recorded high student-reported gains—around 96–98% of participants reported improvements in workforce readiness skills, motivation, or intent to apply lessons learned.
