Lake Country School is an independent Montessori Pre-K through 8 school based in South Minneapolis with an additional 160-acre rural campus (the Land School) in Dunn County, Wisconsin. The school combines Montessori pedagogy, urban and rural experiential learning, and specialist subjects to support the intellectual, social, and ecological development of children. Founded in 1976, Lake Country operates year-round programming including primary, elementary and junior high classrooms, extended-day and summer offerings, and land-based agricultural and stewardship experiences at its Land School. In spring 2026 the school announced a capital campaign to strengthen Land School facilities as part of its 50th-anniversary milestone.
