About SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES CENTER INC

Sustainable Resources Center (SRC) is a Minnesota 501(c)(3) nonprofit that delivers weatherization, energy-efficiency upgrades, lead-hazard identification and referral, healthy-homes education, and services that support aging in place. SRC runs large-scale programs that lower energy costs for low-income households while addressing indoor health hazards such as lead, mold, and poor indoor air quality. In recent years SRC has expanded program delivery and innovation — including an Induction Cooking Kit Program that pilots library-based checkouts to increase access to energy-efficient cooking — while continuing to operate state and utility-funded appliance replacement and weatherization initiatives. SRC reports a long track record of measurable reach (thousands of homes served and children tested) and continues to contract with state, county, and utility partners to deliver federally funded weatherization and healthy-homes services.

Notable achievements

Homes Weatherized (milestone)

SRC reports more than 17,000 homes weatherized since the organization's founding, delivering deep energy-efficiency upgrades for low-income households.

Lead-safe homes created

SRC reports over 2,000 homes made lead-safe and maintains active lead-hazard education, in-home assessments, enrollment support for abatement grants, and community lead-testing events.

Induction Cooking Kit program expansion

SRC developed a library-based Induction Cooking Kit pilot (launched 2024) and expanded the program to dozens of libraries across Minnesota, making induction cooktops and cookware available for patrons to test at home as a hands-on energy and health education tool.
