About Centro Tyrone Guzman

Centro Tyrone Guzman is a long-standing, Latine-led community organization based in South Minneapolis that provides early childhood education, youth programs, adult and elder services, and family-centered health and social supports. The organization traces its roots to community organizing in the 1970s and operates bilingual, culturally centered programs designed to strengthen identity, educational outcomes, and family stability. In the last 2–3 years Centro has expanded and formalized early childhood and maternal services (including a 2024 infant & maternal health department), continued operation of its accredited bilingual preschool and Montessori home‑visiting offerings, and sustained intergenerational services for elders and caregivers. Centro maintains an active web presence, regular news updates, and partnerships with local funders and coalitions to deliver programs across Minneapolis and surrounding counties.

Established community anchor (since 1974)

Founded from the Chicano movement in 1974, Centro has grown into a multi‑program community hub serving Latine families across generations in the Twin Cities and has sustained programming for five decades.

Bilingual Montessori early childhood programs

Centro operates Siembra Montessori and related Montessori home‑visiting services—an accredited, bilingual early‑learning pathway that centers culture and language in preschool education and staff training.

Infant & maternal health program expansion (2024)

In 2024 Centro formalized an infant and maternal health department to expand prenatal and postpartum services, infant health education, home visiting, and enrollment assistance for family support programs.
