GREATER MINNEAPOLIS CRISIS NURSERY

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is a donor-facing nonprofit in Minneapolis that provides free, voluntary crisis services to parents and caregivers and short-term care for children newborn through age six. The organization operates a 24/7 crisis helpline, overnight residential care (up to three nights), crisis counseling, home visiting, and connections to community resources to prevent child abuse and support family stability. The Nursery has served Hennepin County families since 1983 and focuses on prevention and early intervention, offering education, mental-health-informed home visiting, and direct child care so parents can address immediate crises. In the most recent fiscal year (ending June 2025) the organization reported managing 2,096 crisis calls, supporting families in 1,058 family-advocate meetings, safely tucking children into bed 4,420 times, and providing 375 home visits. The organization maintains state licensure for children’s residential/shelter services and continues active community partnerships and fundraising efforts (including an annual gala) to support operations and program expansion.
