About WELLSHARE INTERNATIONAL

WellShare International is a Minnesota-based, donor-facing 501(c)(3) public health nonprofit that works with immigrant, refugee, and underserved communities in Minnesota and partner communities in Tanzania to promote health, prevent disease, and increase access to health services. WellShare operates community health worker (CHW) programs, maternal and child health promotion (including family home visiting), youth and community wellness initiatives, and capacity-building partnerships with local health systems and funders. In the past 2–3 years WellShare has expanded programming in southern Minnesota (Mankato area), launched community fitness and youth groups for Somali communities, and continued partner work in the Bariadi district of Tanzania. WellShare is an established organization (tax-exempt since 1981) with an active web presence and a track record of government and foundation funding to support CHW networks, rural health equity work, and culturally tailored health promotion for immigrant and refugee populations.

Notable achievements

Community Health Worker Network

Built and sustained a sizeable CHW network and peer network serving diverse Minnesota communities—engaging over 200 community health workers to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate health education and navigation services.

Program Expansion in Minnesota & Tanzania

Expanded direct services across Minnesota (including a formal program launch in Mankato in 2024) while maintaining longstanding community health partnerships and village-level programs in the Bariadi district of Tanzania.

Secured Major Grants & Local Partnerships

Won multiple government and philanthropic grants and local partnerships in recent years (including multi-source support in 2024–2025 and community grants such as a Mankato Clinic award) to scale CHW-led services and health equity initiatives.
