History Theatre is a professional, donor-facing performing arts organization founded in 1978 and based in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota. The company produces a mainstage season in its 587-seat thrust-stage theater, develops new work through its RAW STAGES festival and workshops, and tours selected productions and educational programs to schools and communities across Greater Minnesota. In the last 2–3 years History Theatre has continued producing new Minnesota-focused plays and musicals, announced its 2025–26 and 2026–27 seasons, and completed a leadership transition in mid-2026 as its long-serving managing director retired and a new executive director assumed the role.
