About Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association

Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA) is a 501(c)(3) community-building nonprofit serving the Powderhorn Park area of Minneapolis. The organization runs community events, advocacy campaigns, and direct-support programs aimed at improving housing stability, supporting local artists and businesses, and strengthening neighborhood capacity.

In recent years PPNA has centered its work on housing justice (through its Renter Support Fund), cultural programming (notably the annual Powderhorn Art Fair), and coalition advocacy on livability and equitable development. PPNA reports active, ongoing programming and has been operating the Renter Support Fund since 2019 and producing the Powderhorn Art Fair as a major community fundraiser and artist marketplace.

Notable achievements

Renter Support Fund — 500+ households

Since launching administration of the Renter Support Fund in 2019, PPNA has provided low-barrier, high-trust cash assistance to more than 500 renter households in Minneapolis. The program underwent programmatic adjustments (announced in 2023) to stretch resources to more recipients and in 2025–2026 moved toward an expanded grant model with higher one-time awards for selected cycles.

Powderhorn Art Fair — major annual event

PPNA produces the Powderhorn Art Fair, a long-running arts festival that showcases over 200 juried artists and draws large community attendance; the organization reported a record-breaking 2025 fair that welcomed over 17,000 attendees. Net proceeds from the fair support PPNA programming and provide direct economic opportunities for participating artists.

Program scaling & grant expansion

PPNA has recently scaled its direct-assistance work by changing stipend structures and expanding select grant cycles; in 2026 PPNA announced improved grant expansion and multi-month selection plans (including plans to select nearly 60 recipients in specific March–May 2026 cycles) and set an elevated fundraising goal to sustain that expansion.
