About ESPERANZA UNITED

Esperanza United (formerly Casa de Esperanza) is a Latina-founded and Latina-led nonprofit based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, that provides culturally specific services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and dating violence while building community capacity to prevent gender-based violence. The organization operates local direct services— including an emergency shelter (El Refugio), a bilingual 24/7 crisis line, family advocacy, transitional housing support, and youth programs—while also leading national training, research, and policy work to amplify Latin@ survivor voices. In recent years Esperanza United completed a strategic rebrand and scale-up of its national initiatives, serving roughly 13,000 people annually (about half locally) and substantially growing its programmatic reach and revenue to support expanded direct assistance and policy advocacy.
