About SOUTH ST PAUL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

The South St. Paul Educational Foundation (SSPEF) is a donor-facing 501(c)(3) established in 1984 to support South St. Paul Public Schools through scholarships, program grants, alumni engagement, and community partnerships. The Foundation acts as a bridge between local donors and district students to expand educational opportunities and reduce financial barriers to learning. In recent years SSPEF has updated its mission and strategic cornerstones (Visibility, Innovation, Stewardship, Passion) and increased its direct impact on students: it provides program funding for classroom and district needs and awards scholarships to graduating seniors. The Foundation operates with an active board and staff in partnership with South St. Paul Public Schools and publishes annual reports documenting awards and grant activity.

2025 Scholarship Awards

In May 2025 the Foundation awarded 145 scholarships totaling $605,750 to South St. Paul graduating seniors, the largest single-year scholarship distribution on record.

Long-term Scholarship Impact

Since its founding in 1984 the Foundation has awarded more than $8,000,000 in scholarships to South St. Paul graduates to support post-secondary education and training.

Program Grants for District Needs

Across recent fiscal years the Foundation distributed six-figure program funding (including $85,000+ in one reported year) for classroom field trips, equipment, winter clothing, college/career software and other district requests.
