About Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers

Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) is a member-led nonprofit and certified CDFI based in Minneapolis that convenes affordable housing developers, community organizations, and economic justice practitioners across Minnesota. MCCD provides policy advocacy, professional development, technical assistance, and flexible lending (the Opportunity Fund and other loan products) to support community-led housing, cooperative ownership, and small businesses.

In recent years MCCD has driven measurable impact through advocacy and direct services: it played a convening role in securing a historic $200 million affordable housing allocation in 2023, supported hundreds of entrepreneurs and cooperatives, and reported supporting 694 businesses in 2024 while delivering trainings and mentorship to housing and community development professionals. The organization centers racial and economic justice and explicitly focuses its work on BIPOC and low-wealth communities across Minnesota.

MCCD operates as both a statewide consortium (partnering with 30+ nonprofit members) and as a lender and advisor, pairing capital with technical assistance and leadership development to advance community wealth-building and more equitable access to housing and economic opportunity.
