About OPEN ARMS OF MINNESOTA INC

Open Arms of Minnesota is a Minneapolis‑based nonprofit that prepares and delivers medically tailored, chef‑prepared meals free of charge to Minnesotans living with life‑threatening and critical illnesses and to their families. The organization pairs registered dietitians with in‑house chefs to create menus tailored to specific medical needs and offers nutrition counseling and other supports. Open Arms operates multiple kitchens (including a Saint Paul campus opened in 2023), a shipping program to serve greater Minnesota, and community programs such as urban farms and culturally tailored meal initiatives. In recent years it has expanded capacity, partnered with health systems on pilots (including high‑risk pregnancy and culturally specific programs), and delivered hundreds of thousands of medically tailored meals annually.

Decades of service

Founded in 1986, Open Arms has provided medically tailored meals for decades and marks multi‑decade impact serving people with HIV/AIDS, cancer, organ disease and other serious illnesses.

Major production expansion (Saint Paul campus)

Opened a Saint Paul kitchen/campus to grow meal production and shipping capacity, enabling a substantial increase in meals prepared and the ability to ship medically tailored meals across greater Minnesota.

High-volume meal delivery

In recent fiscal years the organization delivered hundreds of thousands of meals annually (e.g., ~873,623 meals in FY2023–24 and over 900,000 meals the following year), contributing to more than 13 million meals delivered since its founding.
