About FIRST CHILDRENS FINANCE
First Children’s Finance (FCF) is a national nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in Minneapolis, Minnesota that provides loans, business consulting, training, and systems-level consulting to strengthen child care businesses and expand high-quality early care and education. FCF combines mission-driven capital with sector-specific business assistance to stabilize, improve, and grow child care providers that serve low- and moderate-income families. The organization operates regional offices (including Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Oregon, and Vermont) and delivers state and national consulting, grant administration, and targeted programs for communities and tribal nations. In recent years FCF has scaled both its loan fund and its training/technical assistance work: in fiscal year 2024 it reported thousands of client engagements, generated new child care capacity, and administered multi-state grant and revitalization programs to preserve and create child care slots and jobs.
