About AUTISM SOCIETY OF MINNESOTA

The Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) is Minnesota’s oldest nonprofit autism organization, founded in 1971 to support individuals and families affected by autism across the lifespan. AuSM operates statewide programs including counseling and consulting services, tailored summer camps for children and adults, workshops and trainings, support groups, and resource/referral services. In the last 2–3 years AuSM has continued active statewide programming and events (including Steps for Autism and a 2026 puzzle competition), published annual reports and 990s, launched the 2026 summer program catalog, and announced executive leadership changes in mid-2026. AuSM positions itself as a neurodiversity-affirming organization focused on advocacy, education, community-building, and keeping donated dollars local.

Founded by a group of parents in 1971, AuSM is Minnesota’s longest-running autism nonprofit and has expanded its services to support people with autism from childhood through older adulthood.

Comprehensive service portfolio

AuSM maintains an integrated set of programs—counseling and consulting services, specialty summer camps (youth and adult tracks), workshops and trainings, support groups, and sensory-friendly community events—designed to serve a wide spectrum of needs.
