About Indian Child Welfare Act Law Center

The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Law Center is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit legal services organization, founded in 1993, that provides direct legal representation, advocacy, and education focused exclusively on the Indian Child Welfare Act. The Law Center represents American Indian families in state and tribal child protection proceedings, offers training and resources to professionals, and works to prevent the unnecessary removal of Native children from families and tribal communities. The organization combines direct casework with systemic advocacy and training, and collaborates with law schools, tribal governments, and state agencies to strengthen culturally appropriate practice and compliance with ICWA.
